Thanks for sharing your perspective and that vignette.  I'm not familar
with Ivan Illich yet.  Your analog is well chosen and brings to mind
another analogy to cathedral building that most if not all on this list
have seen in some form, Eric Raymond's The Cathedral and the Bazaar.    (03)
