Eric, your first set of points entirely convinced me as an armchair
strategist that programming support should wait. Then your second set of
points got me thinking.
What do potential CONTRIBUTORS think? Is what they would want to use first,
and want to help develop first, the same set of features? If so, does it
include software support as the key (or a critical) item, or not?
Again I am no developer but I do read a lot of comments by people who are.
"Release often" IMHO targets people who both use or would use the package
and are participating in the development. I am thinking that their views may
be more critical for actually having that first "stone" of functional code
with which to start making the stone soup.
