Talking about concept mapping, did you hear about the Diva project
(http://www.gigascale.org/diva/) ? It was developed at UC Berkeley and looks
like a very sound foundation for creating Java application and applets that
handle dynamic information.
Quote:
"Welcome to the new home page for Diva, a software infrastructure for
visualizing and interacting with dynamic information spaces. Sound
interesting? Find out more on the about page, view some nifty demos, or
download the software."

Visit: http://www.leximancer.com/gallery/kdnuggets/2000/index.html
This is an applet.
"Once you start exploring, you can use the Concept Globe map:
· Left-Click on any area of the map to bring it to the centre.
· Right-Click on a Label to open that Concept.
· Shift-Click to zoom in, Control-Click to zoom out.
· Brighter Labels indicate Stronger Concepts.
· Nearness on the Globe indicates Relationship.
OR simply select from the concept list. "
Once you click the start button, you will see a nifty graphical display
which has, as its home page:
