There is a continuum of future prospects (far away, general),
current plans (imminent, detailed), and historical record
(what we thought we were going to do, what we did).
The ideal system will of course naturally migrate information
"downstream" as time flows by. Future possibilities turn into
detailed alternatives, alternatives are chosen, are fleshed
out with greater detail, and become plans, plans are carried
out, course corrections are made, and the historical record
created.
