Just came across this article the S.F. Chronicle

It occurs to me that in a very real way, journalism is the 
only real guardian we have against the untrammeled excesses 
of capitalism. That role is properly filled by government, 
but with  elections going to the most well-funded, the effect 
is to have the foxes in charge of the chicken coop!    (03)
